CHURCH IN AMERICA: NOT (NECESSARILY) WHAT ONE MIGHT THINK IT IS.
Let me begin by stating that I believe that Sonoma County, CA might be a bit more Left-wing than the average county in the USA. That said, however, I reluctantly agree that overall, the broadbrush picture of America’s church is fairly consistent from city to city, town to town, rural area to rural area. That is, on the inside, what takes place in American churches, is likely to be very consistent.
That, of course, is because people are involved.
Whether you prefer giant mega-churches or your small, local neighborhood church, your pastor likely preaches from the same book as any other church of your denomination or faith.
Interpretation is not an option, by the way, although some folks believe that it is. Whether you are of the Jewish faith, or Buddhist beliefs, or whether or not you subscribe to Catholicism or one of the more than a thousand Protestant denominations, you are likely to have found a set of mores and principles – and dogma, perhaps – which speak to your heart and with which you find yourself in agreement.
I am just getting started here on Church in America, so don’t become discouraged if my progress is slower than you like. Believe me, once I get on a roll, I can knock an entire book out in 7-14 days. That is how the Lord, my God, pours into me, and out of me.
My intention here is definitely not to be critical or harsh in regards to Church in America; quite the contrary – I have a fondness and a love for Church that even I find surprising.
Nor will I be glossing over or sugar coating Church in America – I won’t stoop to such useless salesmanship.
I will be presenting an honest overview of the Church in America that I found waiting for me when I was saved in a hail of Glory – in a moment, in fact – back in September of 1998, weeks before my precious daughter Madison was born. I have seen good and bad, healthy and unhealthy, outrageousness and amazingness all at the same time, although not necessarily in the same churches (although sometimes they were.)more church information found at http://www.christianpost.com/news/dear-churches-in-america-prepare-to-be-treated-like-1st-century-christians-in-rome-138025/
I’m setting up Forums and Groups here if you’d like to add your two cents – I welcome your feedback and your thoughts as you read Church in America. Thank you in advance for any contribution you might make of a positive nature.
